Today I wanted to gush about the two Byredo Eau De Parfums I have been loving and using on a bi-daily basis.
- Byredo Mojave Ghost Eau De Parfum, and;
- Byredo Gypsy Water Eau De Parfum.
These babies were not cheap, not by any stretch of the imagination. Both of my purchases were from Mecca Cosmetica, retailing at $158.00 for 50 mls and $240.00 for 100 mls.
Let’s start with the cult favourite, Byredo Gypsy Water.
This fragrance is marketed as: “… Fresh yet woody, this iconic scent fuses the smokiness of campfires with the freshness of forest pine for a truly enchanting aroma. Laced with notes of bergamot, lemon, pepper, juniper berries, incense, pine needles, orris, amber, vanilla and sandalwood.”
Upon Application: Gypsy Water opens up with notes that are potent, citrus-y, with deep vanilla base notes.
An Hour Later: The original vanilla notes fade to a subtle an unassuming sour lemon tang, with strong woody accents.
Overall: This unique scent is perfect for the office and every day wear. One spritz on my skin finds the fragrance lingering for hours on end. I am very careful not to go overboard with Gypsy Water as it does possess the tendency to go from quiet elegance to obnoxious in a matter of seconds.
Up next is Byredo Mojave Ghost. This fragrance is honest to Lucifer, devine.
The descriptor attached to this beauty: “… this floral fragrance pays tribute to its incredible ability to thrive year after year. Notes include, ambrette, Jamaican nesberry, violet, sandalwood, magnolia base, chantilly musk, crisp amber and cedarwood.”
Upon Application: Mojave Ghost opens up sweet, warm and summery with notes of dissipated florals and a muted, understated vanilla.
An Hour Later: What I love about this fragrance is that it does not develop too far from its original state. More than anything else, notes of musk and sandalwood come to the forefront creating a very feminine and romantic feel.
Overall: I personally prefer Mojave Ghost as more of a night time/ date night scent due to its feminity and romantic sweetness. Similarly to Gypsy Water, one spritz is enough to last me most of the night.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post or at the very least, found it some what informative. Please leave a comment down below with recommendations or your thoughts on any of the Byredo perfumes.
