Last weekend, Rhett and I went on a mini getaway to Noosa (about 140 kms north of Brisbane) where we spent 2 nights in a self-contained Air BnB. And it was honestly the best few days of my 2017 so far. Not only did the weather turn out sunny and warm but Rhett and I filled our days with endless adventures, spending the majority of our days exploring all that Noosa had to offer.
So for today’s post, I thought I would share a sort-of highlight reel of our weekend by showcasing a few key locations around Noosa that Rhett and I have deemed the most ‘Instagram Worthy’.
This little bay is a high-tide, cobble and boulder beach that is tucked away about 500 meters down from the main Noosa National Park Carpark. Being a popular spot for local surfers, Rhett and I were joined by 10 to 15 others early Sunday morning. But unlike our neoprene-clad companions, Rhett and I weren’t out to catch any waves.
Now, I’ll be honest. Rhett and I found the sunrise kind-of ..lacking as we spent the majority of our morning being teased with slivers of pink and hints of orange. Nevertheless, the large dark boulders and pockets of small pebbled Sand made for some interesting photos that managed to make the gram.
Carlo Sand Blow:
Most of you guys would have read about this stunner of a location already (or at least I hope so). But for those who have not, Carlo Sand Blow is an impressive sand dune that stretches 15 hectares and overlooks the stunning aqua blue water of Rainbow Beach. Since I have already rambled on and on about this location in my previous post, I will leave a link for those who are interested here.
Needless to say, this is an iconic, must-see location for local Instagrammers and a quick search of the hashtag #CarloSandBlow will tell you why. Albeit, this beach is not technically located anywhere near Noosa (approx. 100 kms up the coast), I just couldn’t exempt this diamond destination from making the list.
Mount Tinbeerwah, located 15 minutes inland from Noosa Heads has by far, been the easiest adventure that Rhett and I have experienced. Standing at 265 meters above sea level, the spectacular panoramic views are readily accessible via an easy drive and a short 300 meter leisurely walk up a slight incline. So as you can imagine, Rhett and I found ourselves meandering pretty lazily up on the Sunday evening.
Once we were at the top, we were greeted by incredible views of Noosa and the Pacific Ocean. So, in typical ‘us’ fashion, Rhett and I hopped over a barricade and settled precariously a metre away from the cliffs edge to watch the sunset from high above. And as you can see, Mother Nature rewarded us with an incredible show but as I am planning to dedicate a post to my evening at Mount Tinbeerwah later in the week, for now I can only give you guys a little sneak peak.
After the spectacular sunset we were gifted on Mount Tinbeerwah, we made our way to Sunshine Beach to watch the sun rise with fairly high expectations. And because of this, we were somewhat disappointed. Despite the beach’s eastern-facing perspective, no amount of mental-willpower was able to deter the thick band of clouds that seemed to obstruct our view. But just when Rhett and I were getting ready to pack up and throw in the towel, Sunshine Beach decided to give us a glimpse into why it is known as Noosa’s primary sunrise destination. And with all my hopes renewed, I took the opportunity to bask under the pastel pink sky. And yes, I was absolutely freezing.
Alexandria Bay, otherwise known as Noosa’s nudist beach, is located about 3 kilometers around Noosa National Park. And some of you guys might remember reading about this treasure a few weeks back (to read more, click here). But long story short, as our visit to Alexandria Bay was during the early hours of the morning, we were able to take in this little nudie beach completely bare-bottom free.
Alexandria Bay made the gram three-too-many-times because this beach has honestly become one of my favorite, and maybe one day, I’ll brave A-Bay during the summer, day-light hours.
And there you have it folks! As always, I hope you guys have enjoyed this little post. And to those who are yet to follow Olive & Clo on Instagram (@OliveandClo), please waddle on over and show me some love! ❥❥❥
